Laura’s Blog Update No. 11

Koln.  The low point of the tour was backstage in Brussels: I was completely exhausted and there was no soft surface to rest on backstage.  I tried to nap on a table (that was a first), and ended up on towels on the floor.  As a result, when I got onstage “my computer broke”.  My hands couldn’t play the parts, my voice wasn’t up to snuff, and each song felt like a Herculean effort.  Now I know we have to bring in the sleeping bag and pad each time so I can get that pre-show nap in.  A sign of the preggo times…

We went to the instrument museum in Brussels and I went bonkers with my camera.  Each instrument was a piece of beautiful art.

    Hi,
Sorry you felt bad on stage in Brussels because of the no nap situation. Next time you’re in town, email me, my wife and I live walking distance from the AB and we have a guest room, so you can have that precious nap and wake up like 15 minutes before hitting the spotlights. Maybe we’re morons but we didn’t notice anything wrong with your voice (as for the computer, everybody has its moments of ‘oops, I just erased the hard disk, sorry!’). Glad to read you were finally able to go back to the Instruments Museum. Don’t you ever forget: most European museums are closed on Mondays. Thanks for your music, it really helps going through this life! But why the f**kc didn’t you bring some of these SNAKE T-SHIRTS??? I’m a collector of anything-having-to-do-with-snakes, I like t-shirts and it would cost me about 20 euros to purchase it from the website and have it shipped to Brussels. Bad luck I guess…
Cheers, see you next time you’re in town
    Alain

    Hi Laura,

we hope you’re feeling well again. We saw you on Tuesday in Cologne – you may remember the little girl standing right in front of the stage. That was me.
I liked your songs very much, we often listen to your music at home or in the car.
Today I drew this picture of you:

I was sad, that I had to leave your concert early, but my parents wanted me to get some sleep. School next day.
If you like my picture, please leave me a note in my mailbox.

    Kind regards

    Melina

    Hello Laura,

I’m not sure if you will even read this but I wanted you to know that I’m a huge fan. Your music is so serene, unique and thought-provoking. I’ve listened to everything you’ve recorded and released and I’m introducing you to my friends, who are all beginning to see how great your music is. Please keep releasing albums! I am happy to hear that you’re pregnant – I wish you and your family the best of luck and wonderful health.

Again – your music, voice, lyrics, and album artwork are stunning!!

    Sincerely,
    Andrew, a huge fan.

    Hi Laura,
Jezus, sleeping on towels in your condition…I already noticed during the interview that you needed a rest. Is this our welcome for a pregnant woman in Brussels? I dont know them like that in AB. Normally they are all hospitality. However, we enjoyed the show very much! The interview is published today on Rootstime.be. Take care!
By the way, talking about instruments: the four string guitar your talking about in the video on your website is a tenor guitar.

  6. Sharon Says:

    Hello!

I would have never guessed you felt that bad before the show. How good at hiding it were you on stage.. it’s amazing. You deserve the greatest respect. Good look with the rest of the tour, I really enjoyed the gig. Take care! Sharon x

hey laura, congratulations on the impending baby! i’m really looking forward to seeing you in Chapel Hill on Friday night. the new album is great!

just a heads-up, the club you’re playing in is usually totally cool with people smoking; however, if you request beforehand then they can put signs up saying ‘the artist has requested no smoking this evening” and people are fine with that. just wanted to let you know. plus, my wife hates me coming home smelling like cigarette smoke (and so do i)!

here’s to a safe and healthy pregnancy! ;-)

  8. John Says:

actually–just got news from the club owner that all shows at the venue are non-smoking now. guess that’s what i get for not going to a show in a while. pffft. even more excited about it now!

  9. Delphine Says:
