Laura’s Blog Update No. 4
Cambridge.  Cloudy and cold. At the Gateshead show the crowd was so quiet between songs you could have heard a crumb drop! Very sweet people, though. We all slept fitfully at the Royal Hotel; we’re sure it was haunted.  The walls were so thin we could hear the man in the next room BREATHING. Alex burst out of bed talking in her sleep and Tim had nightmares about driving the van with the back doors open and the gear falling out all over the road.Â
We spent a lovely night in Manchester with our dear friend Bernie, her cute family and their cat Sooty. Â Bernie hosts bands at her house. Â I’ve stayed with her probably ten times over the past 5 years. Â She always cooks us a lovely meal, tucks us into plush beds and is the last one to sleep and the first to rise in the morning. Â She’s both a friend and a “mom away from home” and the one who told me: “You can do anything when you’re pregnant. It’s not an illness!” Â WE LOVE BERNIE!Â

Laura, you should come to Michigan sometime soon. My mum and dad would definitely have you over if you need a place to stay- free of charge, of course (well maybe a few scribbles on some vinyl…) Hope you’re enjoying yourself, Bernie’s right about pregnancy. You can eat what you want, you can do what you want, you can whine and complain and not seem like a bitch, so to speak (just ask my mum! xD )

Hi Laura, great show in Manchester on Tuesday. My wife and I were at the back, she’s 25wks pregnant and had to sit on the floor through the whole set. I don’t know how you could do an entire tour! Mrs Nip says your bump looks more round so she thinks you might have a boy, our bump is very ‘pointy’ and everyone says it will be a girl

I don’t know why we were so quiet at Gateshead , we were all having a great time. You made us work so hard with new material!! Its all fantastic though – a truly great album.
Your band is fantastic – great vocals and really versatile. Did you see Nelson mess up his first song? He was so nervous.

We really enjoyed your new songs from July Flame at Manchester Academy 3. Keep moving on with the singing and playing – and best wishes for the delivery of a musical youth!

Laura – Was at the Manchester gig and it was truly fantastic!
I only discovered you on myspace last Thursday and glad I made the gig, music was fantastic and the July Flame has been playing in my car all week!!

Laura I’m listening to July Flame in my studio as I right this and just had to tell you this is your best album yet, and I thought your other albums were absolute perfection. How do you do it?! I’m so excited to see you’re coming to Texas this month and I hope to see you in Denton. Your little one will hear the most angelic lullabys.
